Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei states the artificial intelligence company experienced an 80-fold revenue surge in the first quarter of 2026. This sudden acceleration forced an emergency computing deal with SpaceX. Company financial records show a US$3,000 crore revenue run rate, confirming the massive shift toward automated software coding tools.
Anthropic originally planned for a tenfold expansion this year. The company instead recorded an 80-fold surge in usage and revenue by the first quarter, driven by demand for its Claude Code programming tool. This staggering growth severely strained their internal data infrastructure.
That infrastructure deficit triggered an immediate search for external computing power. Anthropic sealed an agreement to utilize all processing capacity at SpaceX's Colossus 1 facility in Memphis. The arrangement provides access to more than 2.2 lakh Nvidia chips, enabling developers to run applications without hitting strict usage limits.
Expanding those limits directly impacts corporate revenue. Anthropic's annualized revenue run rate reached US3,000 crore last month, up from US900 crore at the end of 2025. Amodei stated that traditional software vendors failing to adopt such intelligent systems face imminent bankruptcy.
